Bažant Kinematograf at festival Bažant Pohoda 2015
The Red Bull Tour Bus will not be the only retro bus at the Trenčín airport. The stylish Škoda RTO is bringing for already the thirteenth time the original mobile type of “open-air cinema”, Bažant Kinematograf. It will play these films: Pohoda 2014, A Hard Dayʼs Night, Postřižiny, 38, Wild Tales, and a biography on Amy Winehouse, the latter one in the Slovak sneak preview.
18. June 2015
The first film will be a look back at Bažant Pohoda 2014 directed Petra Všelichová. The programme and the atmosphere of the largest multi-genre festival in Slovakia is presented from the point of view of visitors and “mascots” of the last year — paper robots.
The musical comedy A Hard Dayʼs Night describes a “typical day” in the life of perhaps the most famous band in history — The Beatles. Richard Lesterʼs film from 1964 was a huge economic success and received excellent opinions of critics. It is still considered one of the most influential music films ever. The main characters were played by the band members themselves: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.
The Friday viewing will start with the legendary film Postřižiny by the director Jiří Menzel (the film was based on Bohumil Hrabalʼs books). A mosaic of humorous events taking place in a brewery and its managerʼs family is, according to the fans of the film, the most beautiful celebration of beer, fat food, and womenʼs hair. Starring are: Jiří Schmitzer, Jaromír Hanzlík, and Magda Vášáryová.
The next film will be Amy — a powerful documentary on human weaknesses and life and death of the British singer Amy Winehouse. The Telegraph wrote the film showed the pain behind the veneer of fame, while The Guardian said it was a tragic masterpiece. At its world premiere at the Cannes Festival, it was awarded five stars out of five. British cinemas will release the film on the 3rd July; a few days later, the visitors of Bažant Pohoda will be able to see it in the Slovak sneak preview.
On Saturday, you can watch a film tribute to the hockey legend Pavol Demitra — 38. The film depicts the native of Trenčín not only as a top athlete but above all as a human and a strong personality. The main message of the documentary and its main character is Demitraʼs motto: “Life is too short for us not to make each other happy.”
The last film will be the “Argentinian Pulp Fiction” by Damian Szifrona, Wild Tales. The common moment for all the six stories are the grievances that bring their heroes to a breaking point, as everyone may simply lose their temper one day. The black comedy co-produced by brothers Almodóvar conquered the audiences at the festivals in Cannes and Karlovy Vary as well. It is full of twists, as is Lisztʼs Hungarian Rhapsody accompanying the excellent film trailer. You can see the whole film after midnight on Saturday night.
