Astronautalis
“If Beck were a decade or so younger and had grown up more heavily immersed in hip-hop, his debut album likely would have sounded much like Astronautalis,” says Allmusic portal about Andy Bothwell's debut album. This short summary characterizes Andy's genre range that has been blending the best of hip hop, indie rock and punk for more than a decade. Artist that collaborated with band Bon Iver and St. Vincent's producer found inspiration for writing one of his songs in New Orleans and Čadca.

Astronautalis is an avid photographer, traveler, blogger as well as biker. The wide range of hobbies and everything he absorbs during his travels is translated into his music and lyrics. He's got 5 studio albums, 10 EPs, more than 20 collaborations and countless shows under his belt. The ideas expressed in vigorous rap verses are crowned with rock choruses. At his shows, you are also in for some freestyle on themes picked by the audience. Andy enjoys playing the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The first gig he played in our country took place in Čadca. Impressed by the locals, he dedicated his song “Running away from God” to this town (as well as to New Orleans). It revolves around the theme of being able to enjoy life in spite of the hardships it brings (New Orleans after hurricane Katrina and Čadca with high unemployment rate). In his latest album, Cut the Body Loose, produced by John Congleton (Modest Mouse, St. Vincent, etc.), Astronautalis again puts together a wide range of styles. The album describes a lot of problems of this world, but also brings solutions. You can't give up. You have to find a way to beat the demons, to gather your strength and enjoy life in spite of all the sadness you can see around you. Astronautalis is coming to share the colorful joys in this gray world with Pohoda festival-goers.
