African legend Les Ambassadeurs – World class musicians from Mali
Possibly the ‘Buena Vista Social Club’ of western Africa? Certainly the international stepping stone for some of the dark continent’s biggest artists.

From 1970 to 1985 Les Ambassadeurs not only formed the musical elite of west Africa, but also helped the national pride of its younger nations. After 30 years they have reformed and are here to remind us all of the true meaning of the term, “world music”. Amongst them are some of their most famous names: guitarist Amadou Bagayoko (Amadou & Mariam), singer and keyboard player Cheick Tidiane Seck, and singer Salif Keita. These musicians have contributed to the soundtrack to the film “Ali” (Muhammad Ali), and more recently were involved in the song “Africa Stop Ebola”, which was aimed at raising awareness about the deadly disease. At Pohoda, Les Ambassadeurs will showcase the biggest and best musicians from Mali today.
