Street Dance Battle SK

This year again, you can look forward to the legendary Street Dance Battle, which has a twenty-year tradition. The programme will feature two forms of dance art. The first will be a classic dance battle, where four dance crews, composed of top Slovak dancers in street styles such as hip-hop, house dance, breakin', vogue, and dancehall, will face each other. Dance battles at Pohoda are always accompanied by unbridled energy, crazy moves, and fierce rivalry, which will not be in short supply this year.

CREWS:
SAIXCREW, KIKI HOUSE OF VELVET, POHODA-JAZZ, WAACKIN’ SLOVAKIA, BADD FYAH, SLOVENSKÝ DETROIT, NAPOHODU, BEBES

DJ:
MAIKL KNIGHT

MODERATOR:
OTEC MIREC

The second form will be rich dance performances. This year, we have decided to bring more choreography and diverse dance flavours to the programme to enhance the whole dance experience. Four groups will provide an unforgettable experience:

KIKI HOUSE OF VELVET:
The main character and "mother" of this group is Monika Prikkelová, aka @monnush, a pioneer of the vogue style in Slovakia. For years, she has been educating dancers, spreading awareness about this extravagant style, creating events, and advocating for understanding and equality for the LGBTIQ+ community. With Kiki House of Velvet, you can expect an unforgettable extravaganza.

Badd Fyah:
The dancehall style has had a rich background in our country for years, largely thanks to the dancers of Badd Fyah. They have been building awareness of this Jamaican dance, creating numerous events, workshops, and the regular Bratislava Vibey party, where you can experience wild things. They will also bring a taste of the Caribbean to Pohoda.

The Slovak Waackers:
This Slovak community of dancers is dedicated to the Waacking style, an expressive dance that originated in the 70s in gay clubs on the west coast of the USA during the disco era. Characterized by its emphasis on musicality, hand movements, and posing, it is primarily danced to disco music, bringing with it a lot of extravagance and unforgettable moments.

SAIXCREW:
Unlike other dance shows that are strictly genre-based, this performance will feature a fusion of dance styles in a breathtaking display full of energy and surprising moments. Choreographed by the young, talented dancer and performer Simon Šinka, this group includes dancers you may have seen in many TV projects and in collaborations with leading musical performers from Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
