One of the final acts announced for Pohoda 2024 is a band without which our festival might never have existed: the legendary underground group from Trenčín, Chór vážskych muzikantov.The original members of CHVM began playing together in the early 1980s. Enthusiasts from the then J. A. Gagarin Grammar School in Trenčín would gather every Wednesday after the fourth lesson, initially under the name THE WE. Their first concert as YELLOW DODO AND Co. (later WECO) took place at the first annual Gympelrock in Trenčín, a festival that continues to this day. Following a brief hiatus, the band reformed, discovered their musical style, and by early 1983, they were performing as Chór vážskych muzikantov.
Since then, they have graced the stages of numerous clubs and festivals. Even though they celebrated 40 years in the music scene in 2021, their energy and passion for music remain undiminished. They last appeared at our festival in 2017, marking Pohoda's 20th anniversary.
A few days ago, we were saddened by the sudden passing of their founding member and the "Dad" of Trenčín’s underground scene, Ľubo Dzúrik. We won’t see Ľubo on his iconic quad bike at the airport anymore, but through CHVM’s concert, his spirit will be with us. They will perform on Saturday at Café Kušnierik during Pohoda 2024.
