Chiki liki tu-a

Chiki liki tu-a  SK

We’re in for a real party at Pohoda 2025 as the legendary Prešov band Chiki liki tu-a marks an incredible 30 years on the scene. They’ll be joined on stage by their original trombonist Maco, and for the fourteenth time at Trenčín Airport, we’ll shout “V šušťakoch!” (“In Nylon Pants”) together, call out “Láska moja de si” (“My Love, Where Are You”) while searching for our other half in the crowd, and end the set with a heartfelt “Ďakujem” (“Thank You”).

They first stood on the stage on 22 March 1995 at PKO in their hometown of Prešov, back when the line-up featured Martin Višňovský (vocals, bass), Peter Šima (drums), and Marián “Maňas” Ivan (electric guitar). Since then, they’ve released seven studio albums, gone through line-up changes, and played countless concerts.

Their third studio album Choďte sa hrať pred vlastný vchod (2003) went down in history as one of the most humorous records ever released on the Slovak alternative scene, featuring hits like “Monte Carlo”, “Láska moja de si”, and “Ďakujem”. They bring their humour and playfulness to their live performances too — something we’ve already witnessed at Pohoda thirteen times.

They took home Radio_Head Awards for the albums Slzy tvý mámy, Šedivý a spol. (2015) and their latest release Venované pamiatke budúcich zosnulých (2021). At the 2021 awards ceremony, the band played with a fresh face – new member Stanislav Sninský (Raptor Koch), who replaced guitarist Ľuboslav Petruška, who parted ways with the band that same year after many years of playing together.

This July at Trenčín Airport, we can look forward to a journey through their entire discography. Alongside the core lineup – Martin Višňovský, Tomáš Višňovský, and Stanislav Sninský (Raptor Koch) – the band will be joined by original trombonist Tomáš Paľo aka Maco, now a member of B.D.H.S.

“My musical beginnings are closely tied to this band. We used to play songs like “Nedozierne možnosti” and “Lala” in our garage, and as teenagers, we got such a kick out of it. We even took some of their tracks to local pop music competitions (not always met with understanding). Chiki liki tu-a have always been a one-of-a-kind musical phenomenon. They’re like the Cimrman of Slovak music—on the surface, it all seems amateurish and naïve, yet it’s actually clever, polished, and masterfully done. I never miss them at Pohoda—their gigs are some of the best this country has to offer,” adds guitarist Ondrej Kopecký from the band Ďzez & Hrúza
