This concert has been a tradition since 2006, and this year it will take place at PINK WHALE club in Bratislava, featuring two stages. From the Czech Republic, we will welcome iconic hip-hop figure Vladimir 518, electronic showman Ventolin, the legendary 80s alternative band Jěště jsme se nedohodli, and Prague's synth-pop band Dukla. Representing Slovakia, the punk band The Wilderness and musician Katarzia will perform, with Katarzia presenting her new album Rest in Eufória.

The concert will be further enhanced by Katarína Zagorski's performance, (SKY) Walking in the Clouds, alongside a dance piece, Dark Grotesque (Tear Off His Head), presented by students from the Private Primary Art School Talentina. Discussions will be held with sociologist Fedor Gál, musicians Peter Kohout and Nina Kohout, journalist Marek Hudec, and Jana Močková and Veronika Němcová from the Otvorená Kultúra! platform.

"The Velvet Revolution brought freedom to the arts as well, and there is much to celebrate. However, we believe the fight for freedom continues, and many things remain unfinished. That’s why we continue to organise the Concert for those who noticed,” says Michal Kaščák from Pohoda.

VLADIMIR 518
A legend of Czech hip-hop, Vladimir 518 rose from the Prague graffiti scene to become a multifaceted artist involved in music, illustration, comics, and stage design. He has collaborated with the experimental theatre group TOW, and is the founder of the audiovisual project SPAM and the comics newspaper KIX. He is the founder of BiggBoss, a label and publishing house. His music projects with the group PSH and his solo albums have earned him multiple awards, including the Anděl Award in 2008 and 2013. In September last year, he released a collaborative track with Slovak musician Katarzia titled “Vidím to, jako by to bylo včera,” written for the co-production film Bod obnovy.

KATARZIA (Eufória LIVE set)
Sexuality. Objectification. The body. Light that conceals. What is it like to be alone on stage and transition from the depths of introversion to the euphoria of your own body? Slovak singer, songwriter, and lyricist Katarzia will present her album Rest in Euphoria on the Pink Whale. The album is tied to a performance by Prague’s new circus and theatre group, Cirk La Putika, for which she composed the music.  The performance blends elements of contemporary cabaret with the rave scene, celebrating freedom in a space where we not only tolerate one another but embrace a world of openness and liberty. Tomáš Košt'ák will be responsible for the lighting, which is an integral part of this set.

VENTOLIN
One-man-box band with an energetic live show. This Czech electronic producer is an enthusiast of Detroit techno and 1980s Italian and Indian disco. His entertaining sets won over not only Czech but also Slovak audiences.  It’s worth mentioning that Ventolin also took part in the 1989 student demonstration at Národní třída Street and witnessed the brutal police crackdown that sparked the Velvet Revolution.

JĚŠTĚ JSME SE NEDOHODLI
These pioneers of the Brno New Wave began in the 1980s as a one-off satirical act, but soon shook up the alternative scene. Not only did they circumvent the bureaucratic barriers that allowed the regime to control speech, but they also shocked with their unconventional music and lyrics. It could be said that Ještě jsme se nedohodli used musical dilettantism in an ingenious way to accentuate the quality of Karel David's lyrics (bass guitar, vocals), added the visual image of "smartly dressed decent people", instruments from their own workshop –  and the world gained a band that won't be forgotten.

THE WILDERNESS
The Wilderness officially exists since 2011. They are a DIY HC/punk band consisting of three guys from Trnava. They have four albums to their name, the latest of which, The Wilderness IV, was released in 2022. Lyrically they focus on political, religious and socio-critical themes, philosophical and moral dilemmas, conflicts between subjective worldview and objective reality. The band is fronted by Denis Bango, also known by his other musical pseudonym Fvck_Kvlt.

DUKLA
The Prague synthpop band Dukla was formed in 2017. The music of the trio, consisting of Lukáš Vydra, Jozef Hradilek and Jáchym Krohe, draws inspiration from post-punk, 90s guitar songs, as well as the current club scene and rap.  The band released their second album, Stejný lepší, this year, featuring collaborations with Slovak singer Eva Tolstová, the band Maryland, and Czech rapper TK 27. They openly express anti-fascist views and talk about social issues.

The first 100 tickets are on pre-sale at a symbolic price of €17. Holders of ISIC and ITIC cards can purchase tickets at the discounted price of €15.

The partner of the event is BKIS, the Open Society Foundation and Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia. The event was supported by media partners Rádio_FM and Startitup.
