Contemporary dance is the daily bread for Divadlo Štúdio tanca. But for many people it is still a great unknown.
The theatre wants to change that with this new format.
Contemporary what? is an educational performance that introduces audiences to the history, guiding principles and insight of this ever-evolving dance art. We want to create a space for unforced conversation with the audience about our work.
It is a kind of “tasting” of contemporary dance based on the idea that if we understand something better, we can enjoy it more.
Contemporary dance is nothing to be afraid of. You may not always understand it, but this format may make something clearer. It will guide you to perceive dance not only on a rational level, but also on a physical-emotional level. It will provide you with the historical context of the development of dance and introduce you to the basic methods of its creation.
